This spirit of bonsai has been nurtured for centuries by generations of Japanese gardeners. He is a philosophical elemental, undaunted by tasks of any size
-Epitaph
Banzai had been trapped in the Bonsai Tree for a long long time. He once annoyed a Japanese gardener who, tiring of the earth spirit's antics, bound it to a bonsai
-Beta Epitaph
Banzai is an Earth Elemental first encountered in The Unusual Suspects as a hidden ghost bound to the bonsai tree in the reception area of the police station. If not freed during The Unusual Suspects, they can be encountered again in Ghostbreakers as one of the ghosts trapped in the Electroplasmic Storage Device.
Appearance[]
Banzai is a small humanoid being made out of green stones. The rocks on Banzai's head are shaped to resemble a human face with bulging eyes, nose and mouth. Their "hip" rock is a much darker shade of green, possibly representing undergarments. Unlike Stonewall, Banzai has hair styled into a topknot with two kanzashi stuck through it, as well as a leaf that covers his crotch.
How To Free[]
Banzai can be freed in The Unusual Suspects by binding a ghost with earth fetter to the bonsai tree located in the reception area of the Hell Street Precinct Station.
Alternatively, if not freed during The Unusual Suspects, they can be freed in Ghostbreakers by destroying the Electroplasmic Storage Device.

- Banzai is one of the few ghosts that can not be freed if you take a level's recommended team, regardless of circumstances.
- Banzai's name is a pun on how the word Bonsai sounds similar to the Japanese word Banzai.
- The word Banzai is a battle cry meaning "10 thousand years of life!".
- Banzai's Lay to Rest line is written in the form of a Haiku, a type of short form poetry that originated in Japan which consists of three phrases composed of 17 phonetic units (called on in Japanese, which are similar to syllables) in a 5, 7, 5 pattern.
